Join us at Forager Crafts for an immersive Wood Burning Workshop! This hands-on class will introduce you to the art of wood burning, also known as pyrography, where you'll learn to create beautiful, custom designs on reclaimed white oak nibble boards. Our instructor for this class is local artist Steve Gavenas, MFA - whose personal style is inspired by many influences, including vintage comics, postcards, and the tropics (Check out his portfolio of artwork here!)
What to Expect:
Introduction to Wood Burning: Steve will guide you through the basics of wood burning, including safety tips, tool handling, and techniques for creating various patterns and textures.
Design Your Own Board: You'll get to exercise your creativity as you design and burn your unique patterns onto the provided reclaimed white oak nibble boards. Whether you're inspired by intricate patterns, nature motifs, or abstract designs, you'll have the freedom to craft a piece that's uniquely yours. Not confident in your design skills? We'll have transfer paper and templates available that will make the design process quick & easy.
Finishing Touches: Once you're happy with your design, you'll learn how to apply mineral oil (our favorite food-safe sealant) to condition and protect your finished wood art piece. Each participant will go home with a small bottle of mineral oil to continue caring for their creation.

All materials are provided! This class is welcome to all ages, but please keep in mind we will be using hot tools. For safety reasons, we recommend that our younger friends might need to stay at home. Other than that, bring along a friend, a family member - or just come on your own and make some new friends here! And of course, you're welcome to bring any food and drinks you'd like to enjoy during the session.
