Kokedama Workshop (Fern, Pothos, or Orchid!)

Get your hands dirty and learn the Japanese art of kokedama—a beautiful, soil-and-moss planting technique that transforms houseplants into hanging or tabletop living sculptures! Sometimes called the poor man’s bonsai, kokedama is a fun and meditative way to display plants with a natural, organic aesthetic.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll choose from:
🌱 Fern – Lush and delicate, perfect for a soft, forest-like feel
🌿 Pothos – Resilient and trailing, great for easy care and cascading greenery
🌸 Orchid – Elegant and unique, for a striking and sculptural kokedama

We’ll guide you through:
🌍 Shaping and binding soil & moss to create a sturdy kokedama ball
🪢 Wrapping and securing your plant for hanging or display
🪴 Care tips to keep your kokedama thriving (or blooming, as the case may be!)

You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind kokedama, ready to hang in your home or display on a dish or flat surface. Whether you're a seasoned plant lover or a total beginner, this workshop is a fun, earthy way to explore a new, hands-on approach to plant care! In our experience, kokedamas are great for keeping humidity-loving plants like ferns happy and thriving in our dry LA climate - so if you've lost a plant or two before, this might be exactly the method for you to have happy, healthy houseplants!

Please feel free to bring in food & drinks of all kinds - all ages are also welcome! Park for free in our lot, or bike or walk to us along the LA River Trail.

Come create with us and take home a little piece of green magic! 🌿✨
